Language is the basic prerequisite for a networked world. And our passion. That’s why, for 10 years now, we’ve been using our expertise to support the children’s charity nph in networking worldwide so that it can give orphans a family.

Overcoming language and cultural barriers, transporting messages internationally, making the world more communicative: that’s what our daily work is all about. Because we’re convinced that language has the power to enable fair and respectful togetherness and to connect the world.

That’s why we have a global social responsibility to use our expertise and creativity, something that we are happy to do. That’s how our collaboration with nph Kinderhilfe Lateinamerika e. V. started in 2010, when one of the worst earthquake disasters hit Haiti.

nph stands for nuestros pequeños hermanos. In English: Our little brothers and sisters – one big family worldwide. This is exactly the feeling that nph conveys. The organisation gives vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean the security of a loving and safe family environment. The children are given a fresh start for the future with access to schools, training workshops, and medical and therapeutic facilities.

Language barriers have to be overcome for the charity to generate donations and finance the projects. This is what the collaboration between oneword and nph is based on: for 10 years, we’ve been working free of charge to make content and concrete aid projects publishable irrespective of the language used and to make them effective for advertising across the globe. With complete success: nph has now received donations from all over the world and has therefore been able to offer a safe home to over 3,000 children in need of protection.

“Language is a central building block for us to give as many children as possible a family. We depend on internationally effective communication to finance ourselves. oneword has been making a great pro-bono contribution here for 10 years now,” explains Heidrun Mürdter, Executive Director of the German nph Kinderhilfe Lateinamerika e.V. Many thousands of girls and boys have already experienced a happy childhood as part of the nph family and are passing this onto their children. This encourages us to continue to take responsibility and to overcome language and cultural barriers with our services.

This year brings a very special challenge, because the coronavirus crisis is presenting poor Latin American countries with almost insurmountable challenges. With this year’s Christmas donation, we want to contribute to ensuring that nph Kinderhilfe Lateinamerika’s aid projects can survive the crisis. That’s why it’s particularly important to support nph Kinderhilfe Lateinamerika this year.
