The largest industry event for technical communication was a complete success again this year – and oneword was right in the middle of it. From 5 to 7 November, the annual tcworld conference transformed the ICS in Stuttgart into a meeting place for experts and specialists from all over the world, enabling them to share their ideas on the latest developments, technologies and best practices in technical communication and translation. We were delighted to be there as exhibitors and play a part with our own specialist presentations.

Our exhibition stand was once again the perfect place to have inspiring discussions and exchanges with customers, partners and interested visitors. It became clear that companies are particularly interested in terminology management and efficient methods for cleaning up language data at the moment. The many discussions we had and people we met gave us valuable insights into the current challenges and needs of our customers. The contacts we were able to make during the day were reinforced at the traditional oneword ‘stand party’ and we had even more in-depth discussions there, all while enjoying refreshing drinks and tasty snacks. Thank you to everyone who joined us on this fantastic evening.

We are proud to have contributed to the conference programme again this year with our specialist presentations. The conference advisory board accepted all three presentations we submitted, which struck a chord with the industry. This was also reflected in the positive feedback from the audience. Our topics this year were:

• ISO 5060 in practice – Evaluating translations in practice (Eva-Maria Tillmann, Head of Quality Management, and Dr Christopher Kurz, ENERCON Global GmbH)
• Magic Cleanup – Terminology clean-up made easy (Jasmin Nesbigall, Head of MTPE and Terminology Management)
• Reality Bytes: The opportunities and risks of automated MT evaluation (Dr Juliane Schwab, Head of oneSuite)

As we do every year, we organised a quiz in which visitors could put their knowledge about oneword to the test. This year there was a “Teufel Boomster Go” Bluetooth box to be won, which is already on its way to the lucky winner, Luitgard Zimmermann.

The most important element of the tcworld conference continues to be the in-person conversations we have with our contacts. They give us fresh motivation and enable us to better understand current needs and respond to them with our solutions. These in-person meetings thus form the basis for us to continually develop our high-quality services.
